One Week Job Documentary Officially Announced!

Sean Aiken Asks “Would You Donate An Hour’s Wage To Fund The One Week Job Documentary Film?”

(July 8, 2008 – Vancouver, BC) Would you donate an hour’s wage to fund the One Week Job documentary film? That’s the question Sean Aiken, the Canadian who successfully worked 52 jobs in 52 weeks, is asking in a unique effort to finance the next stage of the project.

One Week Job: The Movie will be directed by Ian Mackenzie, the Vancouver filmmaker who accompanied Aiken on much of his epic journey across North America.

Aimed at high school and college students aged 17-25, the 90 minute documentary will reveal anything can happen when you set out to find your passion.

“One Week Job was successful because regular people took the time to get involved,” says MacKenzie. “It’s only fitting that we’re asking people to help share the complete story by donating an hour’s worth of their wage.”

Donations are accepted through the newly launched site http://www.oneweekjobmovie.com

On his year long quest, Sean tried everything: Bungee Instructor, Dairy Farmer, Advertising Executive, Baker, Stock Trader, Firefighter, Hollywood Producer and more. Wherever he could find work, he’d go there, find a couch to crash on and immerse himself in whatever profession was at hand. And then he’d move on.

The project received press all over the world. Sean garnered coverage in The New York Times, Good Morning America, the Rachel Ray show, CNN, 20/20, FOX News, along with Global National, the CBC, and countless other outlets.

Thousands of people began following his journey, looking to him for inspiration in their own lives. College students were relieved to find others uncertain of their careers. Baby boomers wrote how they’d found the courage to change their jobs, or go back to school and discover their passions once again.

“Sean, you’re an inspiration to many people who you will never even meet,” wrote Travis, a fan of the project. Another wrote,”Sean I am where I am, and no longer fear the future because of you!”

Now that the journey is over, it’s time to share the complete story and the lessons learned along the way. The documentary will be accompanied by a book based on Sean’s experiences, to be published in Spring 2009 by Random House (US) and Penguin (Canada).

I would be great if your contact information for donations was on this page or your home page. I saw you on Rachael Ray and it was the first that I heard about this project.

Congrats Sean and Ian…what a great idea to work towards a movie doc!! As an employment counselor and disABILITY specialist, I know there are a number of people that your “journey” in life has impacted in a positive and refreshing way.

“If you do work that you love…you’ll never work a day in your life”…I live this motto daily and try to encourage others to do so. Best of luck, Ivy Henriksen
